Car Hoists: A Must For Easy Car Maintenance

The hoist manufacturing industry is a very important one, although many people may not be familiar with it. Information on hoist systems and products are not something a normal individual would dive into without a particular motive. Car hoists are extremely popular tools used heavily in the transportation industry and many others. There are several types of car hoists, including the shallow pit car hoist, the C-frame car hoist, and the deep pit car hoist. Each hoist type has its own specific duties that make jobs easier and less strenuous for the operator.

The deep pit car hoist involves the traditional basement style installation, which allows unlimited access to the lift system's components at any time.  Although it requires a greater pit depth, it is very useful for storage purposes. The shallow pit car hoist, which was pioneered by a company called Macton, has a design that allows more significant benefits that the deep pit car hoist cannot provide. The shallow pit car hoist requires less drainage, and it cases the screws with an oily protective coat to ensure oil is constantly lubricating the screw. It also eliminates the need to carry out maintenance in small spaces. This piece of equipment is designed in C-frame or conventional configurations.

C-frame car hoists, which were also pioneered by Macton, are found in wide-clearance systems that allow dismounted truck assemblies to be underneath railcars to create space and reduce the number of turntables needed. A C-frame car hoist contains a second set of rails: one set to support raised vehicles, and a second set at the shop floor to support lowered trucks. The C-frame has certain benefits that the shallow pit and deep pit car hoist don't, and that it allows you not to use truck turntables to remove the vehicle.

Understanding the uses of a car hoist will help you find the right one for your company and will make any job easier. Safety is a major part of using a car hoist. Maintaining the safety qualifications can make things much more effective when using a car hoist. All types of car hoists, lifts and cranes - whether electric or man-powered - have very specific dangers, so be prepared to study those and share them with your fellow employees. A car hoist will generally reduce the time it takes to take care of a job, opening up for more maintenance opportunities that may go overlooked otherwise.
